Rustic Hideaway - Los Angeles, CAWith a panoramic view from the City of Los Angeles to the Malibu coast this project takes advantage of its location by connecting the house to the hillside with a series of terraced outdoor living spaces. The homeowner expressed a desire to live off the grid and more deeply in touch with the land. A food garden for all seasons follows the contours of the site. Views are captured with a series of vista points framed with native plants and shade structures. Rammed earth walls created from the pool excavation form retention walls and seating that allow patios to be tucked into the hillside.
