Oakland Memorial Park - Oakland, CAThis memorial park unites the community of Oakland, honoring the heroes and the lives lost in the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. Artist Gilmann/Keiffer created a 50' ladder sculpture centered in the heart of the park's plaza. Native grasses and redwood trees cover rolling berms, and rain gardens with native plants treat and capture storm water on site. Custom plaques, mounted to walls where the 15 Seconds metal letters and seismic wave are painted, educate visitors on subjects from earthquakes to rain gardens. (managed when employed at APDW)
