- CURRENT PROJECT
San Francisco, CA
An older hotel in downtown San Francisco has been updated to a swanky hotel. Several of the rooms face a narrow and drab interior courtyard. These are ideas to create a magical “falling garden.” Since the light is very limited for plants and the courtyard is not easily accessible, we proposed using mostly artificial plants and materials such as glass chips, rocks, and lighting. Artificial boxwood is proposed to clad part of the walls, and large planter boxes with ivy are suggested to create more interest on the walls. The ground is covered with ferns, glass chips, artificial lawn, and glowing “rocks.” A fog installation will create mystery and remind guests of iconic San Francisco weather. The falling garden is made of artificial flowers, twigs, and light, and is hanging from large circular steel installations.
