Shades of Green is committed to promoting sustainable landscape practices through innovative design solutions. We create beautiful, healthy landscapes by embracing the physical and cultural contexts of each site and fortifying them with sustainable technologies. Our practice focuses on integrating the landscape of humanity and nature for the benefit of both.

Our approach begins with studying the existing natural systems of each site to understand the opportunities those systems present. We then deliver practical and modern design solutions that meet client needs as well as environmental considerations of the site.

Our work and design process emphasizes a holistic and thoughtful approach to each project. Sustainable systems serve as the basis for each design, always keeping in mind site-appropriate plantings, water conservation and recycling strategies.

Many of our residential projects are “Build it Green” and LEED certified. We are also Rescape (former Bay Friendly) Qualified Professionals since 2008.

Our Secret Garden is not so secret anymore. We had the honor of designing the outdoor space for one of San Francisco's most spectacular properties, a home that encompasses a full city block in the unique Russian Hill neighborhood.

Tessellate Planter Collection

We are excited to present the Tessellate Planter collection we designed in collaboration with Loll Designs. This collection features four styles of varying height, width, and color, creating endless opportunity to play with the geometric constellations.
