Child Friendly Garden

A young family came to us for help conceptualizing a new kid-friendly front yard. The space in front of their house was an unusable slope up to the street.

We lowered the area and added a retaining wall and steps along the street to deal with the height difference.  We used planting and a new gate and mailbox to separate the lowered yard from the street.

A decomposed granite patio with fire pit and water feature creates a welcome gathering spot out front. Low maintenance and drought-tolerant plantings surround a native lawn.

This Garden received Sunset Magazine’s Dream Garden award for Outdoor Entertaining in 2011.
