Modern Revival

For a busy couple who like to garden but have limited time, this revival of a mid-century modern house provides several outdoor spaces to relax. Narrow poured lines of concrete became an element that runs through the garden.

The front yard was enclosed with a new wood fence and entry arbor that leads to a large patio space framed with low maintenance grasses and succulents.

The side yard has a small patio with a landscape wall that provides the opportunity to showcase tiles acquired during travels to Bali.

The rear yard has a small vegetable garden and a no-mow lawn that requires little maintenance and encourages relaxing with its graceful form. This garden was the winner of the James Rose Center’s Suburbia Transformed design competition in 2010.
