Shades of Green Landscape Architecture

Pool Design Inspiration

Pools can make a statement, anchor a design and reflect the rest of your garden.

At night pools transform, offering the chance to create a new atmosphere. For example, see the same pool featured at dusk (left), and at nightfall (below).

Consider the surrounding architecture and materials when selecting your pool design. For example, this bright blue pool contrasts nicely with the Ipe wood.

Whereas a muted pool palette may blend more with the landscape.

Here we designed a circular pool for a mid-century Hawaiian home. We played with the circle motif in the hot tub and stairs.

Lap pools can be added to narrow and hilly landscapes where the pool itself can provide a retaining wall. Lounge areas and plantings are also critical components to your design.

For no low-maintenance landscapes, we placed native grasses (above) and succulents beside the pool (right).

Whatever your use case, pools can make a beautiful feature, providing serenity, relaxation, and fun.

All landscapes featured are designed by Shades of Green.
