Storybook Garden
Set around a 1930s storybook home, this garden embraces the home’s contrast between historic character and modern design. An irregular lot, defined by existing mature oaks, an impressive California pepper tree and a small grove of olive trees, established the framework for the design.
A new pool, outdoor cooking area and gathering spaces transform what was once a large lawn into a series of connected outdoor rooms.
Nestled between the olive trees and the existing fence, the new pool becomes the focal point from the home’s main living area. A corten steel and wood feature wall rises from the pool deck, defining a lounge area while framing views from the house.
A reduced lawn and shade-tolerant planting create a sustainable landscape rooted in both place and purpose.
