City Dream Home

This stately Pacific Heights residence underwent a major remodel including a new garden to maximize outdoor living. A lap pool, outdoor shower, fireplaces, covered patio spaces, and outdoor kitchen are part of the garden.

Grading constraints encouraged creative design—the new infinity edge lap pool and deck sit above the rest of the yard.

A dual-sided fireplace provides a window to the shower behind. Formal trees screen the covered patio next to the pool.

When viewed from terraces above, the garden’s many rectangles and materials give it a graphic quality.

Privacy glass walls softened by plants enclose the front yard and entrance. Permeable paving, drought-tolerant planting, native lawn, rainwater harvesting, and water-efficient irrigation helped this residence receive a LEED Platinum rating.
