Jewel Box Garden

Through thoughtful design, this overgrown hillside was transformed into a lovely and opulent “jewel box” garden.

To improve the connection between the outdoor space and house, the lower yard was raised and the entire space was divided into an upper terrace and lower garden.

Colorful plants, playful paving, custom fire and water features, and an old cantina sign create a whimsical and informal atmosphere.

An existing evergreen dogwood which provides privacy and attracts parrots from nearby Telegraph Hill was preserved. The garden provides room for play and relaxation in a limited space.
